Mark A. Nance
Director of Golf

A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Mark Nance is a member of the Professional Golfers Association and has played in several Indiana PGA¬≠ sanctioned events, including two Indiana State Open golf tournaments. Before graduating from Jackson State University with his BA in Liberal Arts, Nance was the co-captain of the school’s golf team in 1989 and 1990. He also served as the head coach of the Jackson State women’s golf team for a year. Nance’s golfing credits further include him as a former member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship Team, and the Minority College All American Team.

Nance has been actively participating in the development of the new course at The Coffin Golf Club since 1993. He believes this personal involvement has given him an even deeper appreciation for the transformation that has taken place at the property. “Everything here has been done with an eye toward quality and excellence,” he believes. “This is truly a championship-level course now.” But he is equally excited that Coffin is a public golf course. “We’ll have all the amenities of the most exclusive private clubs, but with very reasonable public course fees,” he says.

One of Nance’s personal goals is to have Coffin selected to host such national championships as the USGA’s National Publinks tournament. “Coffin was the site of this prestigious event three times in the past,” he says, “and I think we’re more suited than ever to host it again.”
